RP Guides - Quests

A quest is a scribe-controlled environment that incorporates role-playing and the Battle System into a single setting. Participants will obtain special prizes, items, skills, and money throughout the quest.

To apply for a quest, you must be capable of posting regularly so that you do not hold up your group. Many Quests are races to the finish, so keeping your team waiting during each turn can cause your entire team to fail. Keeping in mind that a quest is a team effort, think of your teammates. If you cannot commit to the time it takes to participate, then do not sign-up.

Unlike side-quests, quests do, in fact, involve your character's actual story; with the addition of the battle system. Because of this, if you participate in a quest, you may not post elsewhere in the world forums because your character can only be in one location at a time. In addition, you may not participate in duels, monster arena battles, or side-quests.

Quests cannot be entered repeatedly, and are only open on rare occasions. If you wish to participate, you must sign up before the designated deadline. After that, it will be too late.

Process

  1. Check into the sign-up thread of an available quest forum to find out if you are eligible.

  2. If eligible, organize a group that you wish to apply with, assuming that they all fit the requirements of the quest regulations. You should have your team organized before posting in the sign-up thread - both to save time and to keep the thread orderly.

  3. When your group is completely organized and ready to go, an NPC account will create a thread stating the number of your team, as well as listing your teammates. (i.e. "Quest Team III: Bob, Ralph, and Jake")

  4. All team-members must, then, report to the designated thread and post their stats. Once cleared by the NPC, the quest will begin.

  5. Through the process of questing, you will often be given a set of options. You are not required to specifically define your choice (A, B, C, D...) but instead, you should describe which choice you made through role-playing. In the instance where your party is faced with options, only one option among the entire group may be chosen before the NPC of the quest acknowledges the result of the choice made. An exception to this is if the option chosen is an obvious entrance to a duel with a monster whose stats have already provided. In the instance where member(s) are given options, then each member, whether specified or general, may each choose an option before the NPC makes its next post.

Each option will have an immediate outcome, which is entirely up to the NPC. You may possibly encounter penalties for poor decisions, or bonuses for certain options exercised. When you post, you can choose an option, or you can choose to 'stall' where, in the RP, you revert to the rest of your group's consent/opinion before proceeding.

The order in which you post is undefined unless specifically designated by the NPC. You are permitted to role-play continually among your peers as long you do not choose more than one option at a time, rob other members of their chances to post, or drastically alter the environment or situation. The NPC is responsible for elaborating the situation and is entitled to controlling your character's actions for the sake of proceeding through the quest smoothly and correctly.

In the instance of a battle, each member is limited to one post before the opposing group takes its turn. Like before, the order which each of these members post is dependant on who posts first, unless specifically outlined otherwise.

At any point in the duel where you see the NPC has made a mistake, feel free to send a PM about it to the NPC, or a Scribe.

  6. Finally, upon completing the final battle, you will receive your main reward, the topic will be locked, and you will have completed your quest.

Rules and Regulations

  • Any specific rules outlined in the quest "Rules and Regulations" thread must be abided by.

  • All members of your party must be within 5 levels of each other before you are eligible for signing up.

  • You may not sign up for a quest if you are already participating in a duel, monster arena battle, or side-quest. If you are signed up for a quest and you attempt to sign up for or start a duel, monster arena battle, or side-quest, your name will be removed from the list of quest participants.

  • Impatience, excessive complaints, or any other inappropriate behavior or attitudes may render you ineligible to enter a quest.

  • Only post in a sign-up thread if you are signing up, confirming that you are joining a certain group, or updating your group list. Chatting is prohibited. If you have a question, send a PM.

  • Refrain from making any, "I want to sign up but I can't..." or "I'll sign up as soon as I'm on level blah blah..." posts. It's unnecessary, and spam.

  • Any member that does not post within 120 hours (5 days) from the point at which he was supposed to post will be automatically removed from their quest. In this instance, the rest of the party will be given the option of continuing in spite of the loss, or retiring altogether. While you do have this allotted time; for the sake of your team, do not wait until the last minute to post.

  • There will be no temporary close-ups. If you leave a quest (even for just a duel) then you may not resume from where you left off. If you quit, it's over. Period.
