Distinguishing Marks: Has a large noticeable cut on his right shoulder, received that during a civil war in a far away county.
Weapons: Can use swords with expert handling, but has switched to primarily using his fist to fight instead of the sword. As this according to him can be more flexible than using a weapon.

Vance is from the back-water village of Somerset, in the Kingdom of Durham. He left home after having being fed up with being bored of being the son of a bartender in boring town, he decided to head out into the local area searching for something to do. After getting himself lost, and ending up in a town he didn't recognize. He got in a short-lived fight in a bar that ended in him being out for two days straight. Once Vance had waken up, he had found himself under the bar under the watch of a female who recommended Vance a job as a bounty hunter since he had awoken in only two days, while most people would be out for weeks.
Vance soon after became familiar with his job and started earning meager pay for trivial jobs of finding lost pets, and protecting sheep. But something was going beyond the petty life of this commoner. Tension was starting to increase between the three Dukes that ruled under the King. Duke Greene a militant dictator that was in favor of reactionary movings that would take the Kingdom back into the period of controlled fear and total totalitarianism. Yet the Duke of Salem was for the evolution of man-kind through Liberalism and Timocracy. As you can imagine both forces butted heads, and this ended up in a few skirmishes between the two Dukes. The third Duke remained neutral for until what was to come.
This was background noise to Vance for awhile, until him and his child-hood friend North had found themselves within a battle between the two Dukes. Fleeing from the chaos, Vance and North found themselves at the mercy of this woman who managed to destroy the whole battlefield with a powerful alchemy spell.
But for some reason, they had not died on the battlefield, but had ended up back up in the town where Vance got his bounty-hunter job. Vance considering now he was starting to get himself caught in the midst of a civil-war made it clear that he was going to make some money out of the chaos... somehow.
Luck was with Vance, he managed to end Duke Greene's reign twice, stop seven demon lords from having their plans come to fulfillment, stopped an anarchist cult, came back from the dead (kind of...), and managed to overcome a power beyond whatever a hick from a town back in the woods could do. He came from no prestigious family, or had any magical powers, just a lot of luck and a smart-alec attitude.
After the chaos had ended, he left the kingdom and his hometown behind, to make some money and have some fun while doing it.
